Since 1995 Debra Maslowski has been teaching soap making, jewelry making and many other classes. She grew up in rural Minnesota and worked several jobs in the floral/greenhouse industry and in bead shops. She taught classes for St Paul Community Education and Open U in Minneapolis from 1995 to 2001 when she moved to Florida. She spent several years there, went to school at Edison Community College in Ft Myers and majored in environmental science. In 2004 she moved to the Asheville area and has since established herself as a valued member of the community. She has trained as a Master Gardener with Buncombe County and has giving several talks and lectures to the community about plants, gardens and such. She's also helped with Habitat For Humanity and Manna Food Bank and hosts a natural product small business networking night once a month. She's currently teaching classes at A B Tech and will soon offer classes at the farm in Swannanoa. She has shown her jewelry at the Western Carolina Mountain State Fair in September and is the sole owner of Earth Echoes. She currently holds the position of manager at The Owl's Nest Café at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC where she also makes her home. and spends her free time hiking, camping and roaming the mountains with her mother, Sue, and friends.
